Review: Morgana's Crypt Eyeshadows and Swatches

So Morgana's Crypt is another indie cosmetics company. They recently decided to downsize so they could focus on their lipsticks (which look gorgeous) and had a $3 for 1 tsp which was a pretty sweet deal, especially considering they have semi loose shadows instead of just loose. I thought these would make them easier to use, or at least faster since the semi loose wouldn't require a sticky base.

I weighed them on my food scale and noticed slight differences in weight, 4 of the baggies measured .1 ounces, however two of them (Selene and Pyramid Scheme) didn't even register, which was a bit disappointing. However they were the two regular lose shadows I ordered, which may account for the difference. Also, Selene exploded a bit in transit (which of course would happen to my favorite one) but it still measured the same as Pyramid Scheme.

But onto the swatches! From left to right it's Peeping Angels, Spiritus Vini, Labyrinth, Shrieking Angels, Pyramid Scheme, and Selene. All swatches were done with UDPP on top, bare skin in the middle, and a small stripe of Pixie Epoxy on the bottom.

So, quick thoughts!

• Peeping Angels (SL) - Rich, deep color. Less glittery than expected which is quite nice! Also is great even without a base which is fantastic. 
• Spiritus Vini (SL) - Really gorgeous multifaceted color, lots of glitter. Didn't perform as well on bare skin but is nice over primer and great over a sticky base like Pixie Epoxy. Kind of reminds me of Notoriously Morbid's Boe.
• Labyrinth (SL) - Quite sparkly. Though the base is purple it has magenta/pink sparkles, which makes it interesting.
• Shrieking Angels (SL) - This was an absolute pain swatching. It was more clumpy/wet than any of the other shadows, and getting it off the brush and onto the skin was trying. The color is very vibrant though, a very orangey red. 
• Pyramid Scheme - Really nice pink/champagne color. Applied like butter.
• Selene - Great neutral, applied like butter. A bit more golden than Pyramid Scheme and has a more metallic finish in person.

I was surprised that I preferred the "loose" to the semi loose shadows. It may have been the brush I was using, which was flat, but the two loose shadows applied much more smoothly than the others. They also applied a lot more smoothly than other loose indie shadows I've tried, and had less fallout. I also generally prefer more neutral shades, so the colors are much more wearable for me. I don't think you need both Selene and Pyramid Scheme though, since they are pretty similar. Peeping Angels seems like it'll be a good blending/outer color for Labyrinth.

TAT was a bit disappointing as well, I ordered on the 25th, got a shipping notice on the 15th, and received my package on the 19th. The estimated delivery when I placed the order was a solid week ahead of when I actually received it, and I placed my order really early in the sale, like wee hours of the morning I hadn't gone to sleep for the night yet hours. I also left a note to seller asking about jars (which she stated to do on Facebook) but she never contacted me about it and thus I received baggies, though I really would have preferred jars (especially since one of the baggies died in transit).

Overall it's a good deal (when she reopens, all of these shadows are final sale ah!) but none of the shadows I ordered were really mind blowing. The colors and the textures for all the eye shadows were good (except Shrieking Angels) but again, nothing screams amazing. It's worth checking out if you'd like a non loose shadow, or even a more buttery loose shadow. Selene may be incorporated into my go-to casual/daily makeup look if I can find a jar for it. Honestly though my experience wasn't too great, and I would rather recommend a company that I did have a good experience with over one that was subpar.

Review : Fyrinnae Eyeshadows in Lucky Charmed, Velveteen Werewolf, Pyromantic Erotica, and Steampunk

So after going through the indie makeup subreddit I've realized I want every cosmetic item of every indie makeup company. This may be a slight exaggeration, but really, I decided to take the plunge and buy some indie makeup products. Though there is quite a bit of drama floating around it, I decided to purchase from Fyrinnae as my indie first. This was partially because of the rave reviews but also because most people seemed to agree that most indie shadows needed some sort of glue base for the shadows to truly shine and the only other option (darling girl glitter glue?) was sold out at the time.

So, the shadows. I ordered minis of Velveteen Werewolf, Pyromantic Erotica, and Steampunk. I also received Lucky Charmed as a free sample. Below are some photos of them swatched because there needs to be more Fyrinnae swatches. They can be rather difficult to find. All of them are over Pixie Epoxy on top and over bare skin below that. As you can see they look great with the base but are really subpar over bare skin.

In their containers, kind of meh about the size inconsistency but WOW look at these beauties.

These shadows really need a sticky base to shine, and shine they do. It's a bit hard to capture on camera but holy cow are these reflective. I like using a bit as a sort of accent color but am not daring enough to use it on the entirety of my eyelid because they're pretty intense. Velveteen Werewolf, Pyromantic Erotica, and Steampunk are all part of their "Arcane Magic" collection meaning they are supposed to have shifts, and they do a bit, but it's nothing too dramatic. Really I was more taken by how shiny/sparkly these shadows were. If I purchased more shadows from them (which I really want to because they are just gorgeous) I think I'd go for their matte to moderate shimmers so they'd be a bit more wearable, but definitely go for some of the bright punchy colors *coughParentalAdvisorycough*.

Overall these shadows are gorgeous. They don't have much fallout at all when patted over Pixie Epoxy, and some of them are really fun/unique colors that are great to buy as minis, like I love orange eyeshadow but I really do not need an entire pan of it, so the mini is great. I think the full sizes are actually a good deal though, like 3g for $6.25 or the regular shadows or $6.80 for the Arcane Magic's. The minis were $2.25 each for 1/4 tsp of Arcane Magic eyeshadows and 1/3 tsp of the other eyeshadows, which may seem like a bit much but they are gorgeous and the containers are really handy. Something about the quality of the container seemed nicer than usual? Like they're not difficult to open/close, they seal up well so no loose shadow escapes when shaken, and they just feel really substantial. I ordered a mini from another company and the container didn't seem as nice, which is kind of a weird thing to be picky about but after using the ones provided by Fyrinnae there's a noticeable difference.

9/10 would buy again. The quality and price are great but I didn't get anything that I will use daily (though that's my fault, going in again sometime later for more wearable colors awww yeah) and the website was a little difficult to navigate. Also unlike other experiences with indie cosmetics the personal touch didn't seem to be there? Which is again nitpicky but when it comes to expanding my already too large collection of stuff I need to be nitpicky.
